Ma famille rejoue une scène filmée par mon père en 1998. Deux trames s’attendent et se doublent créant parfois des synchronicités et parfois des dissonances et asymétries. Le bilinguisme de la vidéo vient proposer une opposition duelle : enfance / âge adulte, français / anglais. En revisitant un épisode banal de son enfance, l’artiste révèle des endroits d’in-changement, de blocages, de répétitions propres à chaque individu.e au sein d’une famille ou d’un groupe.
My family replays a homevideo shot by my father in 1998. Two video tracks advance at different paces, sometimes stopping as if to wait for the other creating asymmetrical synchronicities. The bilingual aspect of the video shows a dual opposition : childhood / adulthood, French / English. In revisiting a banal episode of their childhood, the artist reveals places of un-change, blockages and repetitions specific to each individual as a part of a family or a group.
